The JCapper Intranet
The new JCapper Intranet Site and Message Board is now up and running. You can register, log in, read the forums,
and make posts. Registered Program Owners (JCapper2007 and later) will find that their JCapper Message Board user account
also gets them access to the latest version of the program. Feel free to use one of the Register links to self register.
Requires Internet Explorer (5.0 or Later)
I know that lots of you have migrated away from IE to Firefox. The JCapper Intranet Site has a protective data layer that
exists between the HTML that you see on your screen and the data that resides in the database - and that data layer REQUIRES
Internet Explorer 5.0 or later in order to function properly. That means that you can browse and view the JCapper Intranet
site using Firefox - but if you want to interact with the database (log in and post) (or log in and download) you will have
to use Internet Explorer 5.0 or later to do so.
Just like before, I'll need to manually approve each new user account before you can log in and post. Unlike before,
because this version of the JCapper Message Board is my own creation (and not someone else's canned message board.)
I was able to code out/create a data layer between HTML that you see and the database in such a way that SHOULD
pretty much stop any attempts at SQL Injection attacks from spambots and hackers dead in their tracks. I really think
that the branding of the old board itself was a major factor in attracting all of that unwanted attention.
The new board doesn't have any widely known branding. And so far it's proving not to be a target like the old board was.
The Old JCapper Message Board
The Old JCapper Message Board is currently unavailable. In case you did not know, somebody managed to hack the Invision
Power Board - specifically they were able to use a strategy called a "SQL injection attack" to insert malicious code into
the MySQL database used by the Invision Power Board. I have taken the board down rather than put you guys at risk.
I beleive these attacks were not directed at me personally or my JCapper business. Rather, they appear entirely attracted
by the branding of the Invision Power Board that I was using.
I have been working almost 'round the clock to get this project up and running. And I have been making significant progress.
JCapper2008
The initial version of JCapper2008 is now available. You'll find a download link in the Downloads section of the JCapper Intranet Site.
A couple of notes before you do the install:
1. You need to be a JCapper2007 Registered Program Owner in order to run JCapper2008.
If you are an owner of the original program but not JCapper2007 you'll need to contact me first so that I can activate your
userid in the 2008 program. Marketing and current pricing information can be found inside the JCapper Intranet Site and at JCapper.com.
2. Before doing the install, read the download instructions all the way through to the end. That'll save you (and me) some
unnecessary headaches.
You guys are about the best group of customers on the planet. THANK YOU for your business and let me know if there's
anything I can do for you.
